Easties rejoice! Two new therapeutic gardens opened in Bedok Reservoir Park and Pasir Ris Park.

The therapeutic garden at Bedok Reservoir Park is the first to be built over a former sand quarry and uniquely features an interactive rock garden. In commemoration of its heritage, stones and boulders were incorporated into the garden and its amenities.
The 1,650 sqm garden also has a pavilion which gives visitors a clear, scenic view of the reservoir and a sheltered space for group activities.

The 1,600sqm site at Pasir Ris Park is located 67m from the sea, making it the first therapeutic garden by the sea that offers a view of some of Singapore’s kelongs.
Relaxation and fun go hand-in-hand with the garden’s fitness area, which incorporates play elements that aims to encourage physical activities and social interaction in seniors.
Another feature is a swale that runs through the garden, which acts as a drain.
NParks said four evidence-based research studies it conducted with its research partners found that urban nature contributes positively to the health and well-being of residents.
This is one of the first few studies in the world that shows the impact of gardening on mental resilience and the relative importance of different types of urban nature during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The addition of the two therapeutic gardens in the east brings up the total number of therapeutic gardens in Singapore to nine, but that won’t be all!
NParks said it aims to establish 30 therapeutic gardens across Singapore by 2030.
