Finding a good place to study in Singapore can be difficult. With the hustle and bustle of city life, it is often hard to find a place that is a conducive environment for studying. Whether you’re looking for a quiet library or an inspiring cafe with free WiFi, this guide will help you find the best study spots in Singapore.
From libraries and cafes to parks and even airport – we have compiled some of our favourite study spots so that you can ensure your next studying session is as productive as possible!
The Tree Cafe at The Cathay
Centrally located at Orchard, this ambient cafe answers all your technological needs. It provides WiFi and power sockets free of charge, without any time limit.

For food options, they also serve affordable mains under $10, unless you get their specialty dishes. What’s more, they have a student discount! Just show your EZ-link card to enjoy $2 off all mains. This promotion is available all day except for the eve of public holidays.
Address: The Cathay, 2 Handy Rd, #02-12/14, Singapore 229233
Au Croissant
Upon entering their Kallang Leisure Park outlet, we were pleasantly greeted by the warm buttery scent of pastries baking. On top of that, we were surprised to see that each table had designated power outlets for each seat and overhead lights at every table to provide sufficient lighting at any time of the day. However, you cannot enjoy free Wi Fi here, so be prepared to hotspot yourself if you’re doing online work.
If you’re lucky, you may be able to enjoy their 3 for $10 promotion! We were able to enjoy the promo from 3 pm onwards that day. However, the duration of this promotion varies from outlet to outlet, so do check with the staff when they’ll be putting up the discount!
Address: Kallang Leisure Park, 5 Stadium Walk, #01-54 Leisure Park, Singapore 397693
Grids Coffee Bar
Located in Chinatown, this unassuming cafe may look narrow and uncomfortable. For coffee lovers who plan to cram, the first floor is perfect. Equipped with power outlets behind the tables and free WiFi, you’ll be sure to clock in those revision hours. This is also a work-friendly cafe!
However, if you prefer a more relaxed and laid-back atmosphere, head up to their second floor. You will be greeted with a cosy reading corner piled with pillows and a bookshelf filled with various reading materials.
The second level also offers free-flow water to keep you hydrated during your study sesh! However, there is a time limit of 2 hours during peak hours, so make sure to avoid lunch hour if you’re planning to stay for a longer period of time.
Address: 200 South Bridge Rd, Level 1, 2, & 3, Singapore 058749
The Book Cafe
If you are looking for a quiet and relaxed environment, The Book Cafe is the place to be. Known for its quiet environment, the ambience here resembles that of a library, except with food. Stacked from floor to ceiling with various reads, The Book Cafe provides the perfect setting for you to get in the zone and achieve a flow state.
Free WiFi and power sockets are available at The Book Cafe to keep your laptop going throughout your stay. There is also no time limit, so feel free to study here as long as you want (until their closing hours). If you want to take a break, their books are also available to the public for browsing!
Address: 20 Martin Rd, #01-02 Seng Kee Building, Singapore 239070
Gudsht
The interior of this cafe may mislead many into thinking that it’s a bar, but this cafe is a prime location for students looking for affordable refreshments.
At only $2 per hour, you will be able to enjoy free-flow beverages, as well as unlimited access to WiFi and power outlets. The only downside is that they’re only open from 11 am to 5 pm, so those looking to stay past dinnertime may want to consider other options instead.
Address: Cineleisure Orchard, 8 Grange Rd, #01-04, Singapore 239695
YMCA The Social Kitchen
For those who want to kill two birds with one stone, head on down to The Social Kitchen at YMCA for a study session! While revising for your upcoming tests, you can simultaneously support disadvantaged individuals and caregivers in Singapore.
You’ll also contribute to their employment and income by dining in at The Social Kitchen. The Social Kitchen provides its customers with free WiFi and power outlets, and they do not impose a time limit on your stay.
Address: 1 Orchard Road, #04-00, YMCA@One Orchard, Singapore 238824
Marina One
Alternatively, students who prefer studying in an open-air concept with lots of greenery will enjoy Marina One. Many tables and chairs can be found on the ground floor of this beautiful building, though there aren’t any power outlets nor free WiFi provided. However, the light breeze that passes through is pleasant and reduces the nap-inducing humidity, creating a conducive environment for studying.
Alternatively, if you require a power source, head down to Basement 2. At first glance, this space may look like a typical shopping mall. However, take a closer look and you’ll realise that there are many empty areas with tables, chairs, and most importantly, power outlets. The unlimited stay duration makes up for the lack of free WiFi and the accessibility and variety of food and beverage options.
Address: 5, 7, 9 Straits View & 21, 23 Marina Way Singapore, Singapore 018978
Library@Esplanade
Scenic views, free WiFi, and no time restriction, what more could we ask for?! The library at the Esplanade is a dream for students with a dark-academia aesthetic. Additionally, the plethora of film collections here will surely be an eye-opener for all.
Address: 8 Raffles Ave., #03-01, Singapore 039802
Tampines Regional Library
While we’re on the topic of unconventional public libraries, the Tampines Regional Library within Our Tampines Hub definitely deserves a spot on this list due to its abundance of study areas and spacious interior. Not only do they have this staircase with power outlets on each step, but they also provide free WiFi, and you’re welcome to stay as long as you’d like.
They also have a designated study lounge at Level 5 for those who prefer working at good ole tables and chairs. Each seat also has a table lamp to compensate for the lack of natural lighting.
Address: Lobby H, 1 Tampines Walk, #02-01 Our Tampines Hub, 528523
Singapore Changi Airport (or Jewel)
Finally, Singapore Changi Airport is another great option. Power sockets can be found scattered all throughout the airport, and free WiFi is available anywhere. Anywhere can be your study space!
The best perk of this location is its opening hours – the airport is open 24/7, so you will never be driven away. Night owls, rejoice!
Address: 78 Airport Blvd, Singapore 819666
Singapore Management University
Studying at the compound of Singapore Management University is a great option for those looking for a comfortable and modern environment. Despite the lack of air conditioning, the outdoor study area at Singapore Management University is a great option for students who prefer studying in the fresh air. However, studying outdoors means that you may have to deal with the background noise.
Located in the heart of the city, the huge campus offers stunning skyline views with plenty of natural lighting. The area also has plenty of power outlets and free WiFi, so students can stay connected while studying.
