After experimenting with over a hundred recipes, he finally settled down on the right recipe for his stall. The chicken wings are marinated in prawn paste for two days before coating with a special batter and fried. The result is an exterior that’s not too thick or heavy and remains crispy even after it has been left to stand for some time!

Har Cheong Gai from Ah Tan Wings

The fried chicken wings, with their crispy exterior and juicy meat, are fried to order, ensuring that the wings are always served hot! Be sure to get the Atas Wing Set where you have two Har Cheong Gai or Prawn Paste Chicken, a sunny-side-up and rice!

If Har Cheong Gai is your thing, then you should never miss out on Ah Tan Wings! Not everything bad happens in Yishun!

Diners can choose whether they want Breast and Wing or Thigh and Leg when placing their orders. The fried chicken here is dusted with a layer of dry rub consisting of spices and herbs; if you are going for the extra or insane level, the mix includes ghost pepper – known to be one of the hottest pepper!

The Nashville-style fried chicken here may look dull and unappetising, but do not let its appearance fool you! They are incredibly crispy, and meat is extremely juicy and spicy, depending on your choice of spiciness!

Da Ji Hainanese Chicken Rice

Do not be fooled by the signboard. Da Ji Hainanese Chicken Rice is not your usual chicken rice stall. While they do offer chicken rice, the star dish here is actually the deep-fried chicken wings!

For $3.30 (Famous Fried Chicken Wing Rice), you get a plate of two fried chicken wings and chicken rice – this is easily the best value for money dish in Singapore – I don’t know how we missed out on this gem before! The fried chicken wings are deep-fried until crispy golden brown and are only slightly sweet. The meat remains juicy and tender, while the marinade isn’t overpowering at all!

Eng Kee

With two outlets in Redhill and Commonwealth, Eng Kee is a beloved stall serving up fried chicken wings that are crunchy on the outside and tender within. The stall shot to greater fame when Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong was spotted queuing up for their favourite fried chicken wings in 2014!

The secret to their signature fried chicken wings is simple: they massage and marinate the chicken wings overnight before frying them to perfection. The result is chicken wings that are crunchy on the outside and tender within – make sure that you get a mouthful of meat with each bite!

Hon Ni Kitchen

Located in Bedok, Hon Ni Kitchen has been attracting patrons with their delicious signature Nasi Lemak, but unbeknownst to many, they also serve up some pretty good fried chicken wings!

Even though the chicken wings are not fried to order, you will still get piping hot, crispy fried chicken wings because they get replenished constantly! It is also a testament to how tasty they are! The fried chicken wings have a golden brown crispy exterior and a juicy, tender interior – the meat is so succulent! If you like to have your fried chicken wing spicy, eat with their special sambal chilli sauce.

Hon Ni Kitchen is one of our favourite stalls to visit when we’re craving Nasi Lemak with fried chicken wings!
